As we are preparing to celebrate the coming of Christ our Lord, we are reminded that Christmas is also a time for us celebrate, to give thanks, and to prepare for the reunion with our families and loved ones. It is also a time to look back and reminding ourselves about the many blessings we have received.
It is a time for Mai Tam to give thanks to the Lord and to all of you for your love and support. Indeed, 2018 was really a time of new life in Mai Tam, we have received 10 new children among them 6 are newborn infants from HIV mothers, we have tried our best to provide prophylactic treatment to them, as a result, all 6 of them were saved from HIV. Mai Tam also received 2 new orphans who are living with HIV and had no one to care for them, by now, they are on medication and starting to recover from the opportunistic infection. Altogether, there are 92 children living in Mai Tam by now, yet, with your love and support, Mai Tam was able to provide from treatment, nutritional care to educational support for all of them. Your love really sustains and improves their quality of life.
Yet, this year we are facing many big challenges as well, we have more than 20 children reaching the age of adolescents. The reality of HIV adding more to their crisis of identity, they keep asking themselves always “who will accept me in my life?” We do have some children who have to take the more advanced medication since the old ones no longer effective. Despite that, we survived, continue to live and share our lives with one another because of you
We want to take this occasion to thank you all of you again for everything you did to our most marginalized children for the past year. We wish you and your loved ones a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year 2019.
