Dreams, ambitions, a full life – very normal things for us but sometimes too far out of reach of children suffering from the disease of the century. However, under the protection and care of Mai Tam Shelter, the children are now not only being treated physically, but also mentally & internally. They grow up healthy and can go to school, have fun, and do all the things they love. A perfect life is no longer a distant thing, their future will be as open and full of love as every other child in the world. Mai Tam Shelter was founded in July 2005 by the monks of the Order of Custodians of the Patient Ministries (Camillo) and is a home for single mothers and children affected by HIV/AIDS.

EDUCATION

In addition to care and treatment, the children at Mai Tam are also given top priority in education to have a meaningful life and a brighter future. They can go to school to study like other children to integrate into the community, receive education in humanity, faith, life skills…., participate in creative arts courses to raise them. Nurturing and developing talents. Mai Tam is continuing to support tuition fees for nearly 200 children living with HIV/AIDS who have been to Mai Tam and have now returned to the community and their families.

MEDICATION

Care and treatment is a special concern of Mai Tam’s shelter for mothers and children living with HIV/AIDS at the shelter. Mai Tam welcomes single mothers and orphans living and affected by HIV/AIDS. Coming to the shelter, mothers and children become members of a large family. All are provided with nutritional and spiritual care, and have access to antiretroviral drugs at hospitals and OPCs to prevent the development of HIV and improve the value of life.
Programs to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV are also focused on helping pregnant mothers receive antenatal care and receive good antiretroviral therapy to reduce the risk of transmission to the newborn.
